HANOI - HALONG BAY.
Drive to Halong Bay, one of Vietnam's favourite destinations, and board your CRUISE BOAT for a leisurely journey through the dramatic limestone islands of the bay. Lunch is served while you cruise past islets, caves, beaches and floating villages. This afternoon you may wish to enjoy sunset on the top of Titov Mountain or take a bamboo row boat to discover a water tunnel, scenic lagoon and coral reef. Anchor in a secluded lagoon overnight. HALONG BAY - HANOI - DANANG - HOI AN.
Before breakfast, you may have an opportunity to view sunrise over the bay. Continue cruising through Halong Bay to Bai Tho Mountain in the beautiful Bai Tu Long Bay before returning to the dock for disembarkation. Start today with a CRUISE on the Thu Bon River, passing unspoiled countryside on the way to a pottery village and a wood carving village. Journey back to Danang and visit the CHAM MUSEUM. Continue through the spectacular Hai Van Pass (weather permitting), to the imperial walled city of Hue. Here your sightseeing tour takes in the FORBIDDEN PURPLE CITY, THAI HOA PALACE, the HALLS OF THE MANDARINS and the NINE DYNASTIC URNS. (B,L,D)
HUE - HO CHI MINH.
Begin today with a boat trip on the Perfume River to the pretty THIEN MU PAGODA, made up of seven tiers. Continue up the river to the IMPERIAL TOMB OF MINH MANG, a majestic complex of courtyards, pavilions and temples in a beautiful setting. Today, visit the CU CHI region, an important base during the Vietnamese War due to its strategic location. Learn about the impressive underground network of tunnels constructed by the Viet Cong to connect command posts, hospitals, shelters and weapon factories. See secret trapdoors, underground kitchens, living areas and meeting rooms. If you are feeling adventurous, you may enter and explore the deep, narrow tunnels. (B)
HO CHI MINH - CAN THO.
Journey south to CAI BE, known for its large, floating markets, and board a motorised sampan for an introduction to life on the Mekong River. Continue across the upper reaches of the river to a maze of tributaries and fruit plantations before ending at Vinh Long. Later, travel to the Mekong Delta's economic hub city of Can Tho. (B,L,D)
CAN THO - HO CHI MINH.
This morning enjoy a cruise to CAI RANG, a bustling market town where you will enjoy a sampan ride through the colourful congestion of women and children jostling for space and vying to sell their wares.
